17 units with cars, drivers, & navigators of varying skills assembled in The Netherlands as planned. Nora & Eduard Stemvers had again found a lovely site, this time very near the heart of the bulb fields which were just about in full bloom. The main attraction was the Keukenhof gardens which is the show piece of the Dutch bulb industry. The colours & designs were wonderful and on the Saturday the annual parade of decorated floats & vehicles took place. It was possible to see these floats being created in large warehouses. It was an unforgettable site.
There was a good deal to see fairly near the site; a super model village, sand carving, The Hague, Delft, & Amsterdam quite near, nice restaurant on site and, of course, the cheese. The Dutch people certainly keep the best of their cheese for themselves compared to what they send us. The rally ended with the usual meal together on the Monday evening within walking distance of the site.
Nora & Eduard had worked very hard indeed to find this site, the restaurant, create an unusual competition on the Saturday, etc, and organise the most wonderful weather. They deserve enormous thanks and we really hope that they can be persuaded to do another rally sometime in the future. They collect their new van next month so we wish them well with that.
