Lychett Minster Rally

Thursday 5th June to Wednesday 11th June

Organised by Colin and Thelma Edwards

Another FIRST for Barry and Judy Kempster:

Barry and I have owned a Gobur caravan for 3˝ years but this is the first time we have ever been on a rally, so we approached the caravan site with some trepidation, to be warmly greeted by both Thelma and Colin and a welcome cup of coffee.

Everybody was so friendly we felt we were immediately part of the group and the evening meet and coffee mornings gave us the opportunity to chat to, and make new friends.

The site was a good choice, within easy reach of a great variety of activities. With Poole, Swanage, river cruises and Corfe Castle to name a few. We like to walk and there were excellent walks along the riverside at Wareham, through the Arne nature reserve and farther afield in the New Forest.

It seemed to us to be very well organised and very laid back, giving us time to read and relax, with the quiz which kept us quiet for a few hours, optional games during the Saturday evening and of course Mary’s raffle on Sunday morning.

The organisers must have worked very hard to make everything flow so well and the evening meal on Monday was a great finale.

We haven’t mentioned the weather - 6 days of sunshine - whoever ordered it did a fantastic job.

Our thanks to Thelma and Colin, and their helpers Lorna and Pat for making the rally such a pleasant holiday for us. We shall be back for more.  We hope those of you who went on to the rally in France had a splendid time.

Wendy and Keith Wright reported too:

A thank you to Thelma and Colin for an excellent rally at Lychett Minster near Poole in Dorset.  A nice quiet site with top class toilets and showers. They ordered the best sunshine for us which shone every day of the rally. Thursday evening we had a get together with nice desserts supplied by Thelma and Colin. Saturday night we played outdoor games and Monday had a lovely meal just a short trip away from the site.

We took our bikes and cycled from nearby Upton Country Park into Poole along a pleasant bike track with beautiful views. Once in Poole we could leave our bikes locked up free of charge while we strolled around the town.

We visited nearby Sandbanks and also took a train ride into Swanage. All in all a lovely break.

Thelma and Colin had organised this rally to double up as a convenient stop-off point or ‘back to back rally’ for France.  7 vans took advantage of this so this report is to be continued………..(on the website or in the December 2008 Carousel News!)
