What a difference a year makes ! Last year we were being asked to turn down the heat this year its could you turn off the tap.
18 vans came to Pembridge a few absences due to ill health and one couple wanted to stay at home to dry out, we were assured, they meant from the rain !
Thursday was dry and the welcome evening, was supplemented with a drop of local cider, then came the rain for the whole of Friday, damping the enthusiasm for outside visits. with the organisers glad that they had not chosen Friday evening for the barbecue.
Coffee mornings held in the marquee, which members were glad we had, raffle tickets sold by Jackie, and what a good job she made. Grumbles about the anagram quiz, gave members' something to do on the rainy days. For those of you who saw the Rivers Quiz sold for the local school, Kate's still only answered 12 of the 50 questions, no chance of winning the prize there! Sending for the answers. ( Maybe there will be a river quiz on a future rally ?) Saturday we had the Pembridge barbecue, food from the farm shop, cooked by the site personnel and help given by two young lads, who were a credit to their parents, smiles on their faces and nothing was too much trouble. A very enjoyable evening.
Sunday morning wet, but did this stop the Gobur Owners', no! off they went to see the sights. Those who had been to the Welsh lakes last year, went again to see the waterfalls, others visited N.T. properties.
Monday dawned and its was dry, down came the awnings, well most of them, packed away with sighs of relief. Later at around 5pm we had a thunderstorm. Meal booked for 7.30, those who had gone for showers could have just stood outside their vans. Would we need a boat to get off site? the road looked like the local river. We all set off in the dry one brave couple even walked to the Kings Head, without getting wet. “Welcome back” said the sign in the restaurant, menu cards to keep as a souvenir, excellent food what more could you want as a fitting end to a rally that had the 3 F's, from start to finish.
We both would like to thank those who helped with the marquee, Jackie for running the raffle, and special thanks go to Di and Graham, without whose help this rally would have not been such fun to run.
