19 Carousels crossed the Solent to attend the clubs first rally on the Isle of Wight. Although rain welcomed some members, most were able to set up in reasonable weather.
The coach tour around the island on Friday proved a hit and those who made the trip enjoyed lovely sunshine all day. Unfortunately, whilst we were away the site suffered a deluge of rain with hailstones the size of golf balls. Our thanks to Roy who emptied the swimming pools in our awning and gazebo roof tops. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to help Nora and Eduard who got drenched whilst out cycling. After that, the sun shone everywhere and we even held an impromptu BBQ evening where the men showed off their cooking skills. A tribute was paid to Norman who had been flying earlier in the day. On the last night, we had a very nice 'rally meal' at the nearby Fighting Cocks pub.
There is so much to see and do on the island that we feel another rally must be held there and the help, hospitality and friendliness of the staff at Southland Caravan Park made it very easy to organise. On our last morning they told us it was a pleasure to hear the sounds of laughter ringing around our area. This surely meant we were enjoying ourselves.
Thank you to Mary for organising the raffle, to Olive and Ray who couldn't attend but generously donated their deposit to the fund, to David and Christine for donating a special bottle of wine which we auctioned but most of thank you to everyone who joined us to make the rally a success.
