We arrived on 11th June, hot and sunny day, and we were lucky with the weather. Only, 8 vans on this rally, room for 12, unfortunately Michael & Iris Hoyland were unable to attend. Mike is not well. We send our good wishes, for a speedy recovery and hope to see them soon, out with their “Gobur”.
This touring park is “exclusively for adults” and they call it “ The garden in the valley”. Those of our members, who are gardeners spent quite some time naming the plants and trees. No that wasn't the quiz, it was (ding- bats) which tested our brains!!!!!!.
The nearest town was Wiveliscombe, know locally as Wivvy, one of the shops was called the 'The Pig Carousel', didn't find out why, but did take a photo. One of the garages had 3 Austin Healey cars in the showroom, guess who took a picture of that ?
Coffee mornings where held in the Millennium Barn, Thursday & Friday evening, spent chatting. Fish & chip supper on Saturday, Joy and Peter supplied the dessert(fruit salad with a difference) must get the recipe.
Days were spent visiting the local places of interest, far too many to do, but these included Dunster, Dunster Castle & Gardens, Watchet, Cleeve Abbey, a trip on the West Somerset Railway, some were lucky and saw the engine, “Tornado”. Hestercombe Gardens, Minehead, to name just a few of the attractions in this part of Somerset.
Peter and Joy led a walk on Saturday morning. Having reached the local pub, we had a very welcome drink, photos taken by a fellow drinker, poor man, he must have used at least five different cameras.
Monday evening, where did the time go? The rally ended, with a scrumptious meal at the Fitzhead Inn, the route to the Inn was not for the faint hearted, very narrow lanes, but worth the effort of keeping your fingers crossed that nothing was coming the other way!!
Thanks, Joy and Peter, for running a super rally, where did you say your next one was? Must make sure that our request for a booking form, is in the post at the earliest opportunity, we wouldn't want to miss out.
