BSA BANTAM TRIALS CDI IGNITION SYSTEM

This system updates the normal Wipac generator and alternator on D7, D10, D14 and B175 engines used in trials that require no lighting output.   This conversion gives the power unit the electrical reliability now found on modern trials machinery.  This system is self-generating from a source coil fitted inside a flywheel fitted with modem high performance magnets. This output is connected to the combined CDI and HT coil unit by only two cables. This compact unit is easily mounted under the fuel tank or seat by means of a simple bracket.   A crimped on sparkplug connector with a durable cover provides a weatherproof connection.  The inbuilt advance curve and combined with the weight of the flywheel gives smoother performance at the low rpm and stills allows the engine to rev out when required.  Two types of fitting are available. The first is the crankcase mounted and requires the crankcase half to be machined. This allows the choice of any outer cover to be fitted for example D1/D3 covers on a four-speed engine to narrow the engine down. This version is recommended for any early three-speed engine. The second type is a retrofit version for the later alternator equipped engines, which only requires the inner cover to be modified to accept the adaptor plate.  All the required machining is done for you on receipt of the parts and each conversion comes with a flywheel locking bar and extractor to safely remove die flywheel plus all the required fixings to make both electrical and mechanical fitting a straight forward operation following the comprehensive instructions provided.
