Villiers Singles improved back plate

I made this simple contact breaker conversion several years ago. I was getting tired of the rather fiddly standard assembly with the small compression that always jumped out and hides its self in the most dark and difficult to reach place in the workshop. After having run successfully on my three machines for over two years I published the idea for the benefit of fellow two stroke enthusiast. The original drawings were published in the club journals of the B.T.S.C and the G.R.A. to assist members in the manufacturing of their own. From what I have heard reported many have been made and have given good results. Unfortunately not everyone has the facilities or the access to them to be able to make one for themselves. Now I have moved on to electronic systems people still ask if this conversion is available. I am pleased to say it is and is still a very good way of getting the best out of the standard Villiers system or the remote HT coil version. The timing is adjusted by moving the mounting plate in the vertical plane on the close fitting machined slots. Setting the points gap is done by slackening just one easy to get at screw. Once correctly set the points hold their setting much longer than the originals. The kit comes complete with all the parts required to make fitting of this conversion a straightforward operation.
