Social Event on the Isle of Wight

Sail the river Medina on the paddle steamer Monarch, picnics may be eaten on board or buy a meal at the Bargeman’s Rest.  Meet at Newport Harbour (time to be advised dependant on tides).  Monarch takes 12 people so the first 10 or 22 to pay £20 (non-refundable but transferrable) will be booked. Sailing time is 2.5 hours. A bus pass for the day will be required (£10) to get from/to the ferry terminal and may be used to visit other Island attractions such as Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House.  There are a number of museums in Newport within walking distance. Please state at which ferry port you will be arriving so I can organise a programme of activities.  Cowes is most convenient for Newport, but there are also regular buses from Ryde and Yarmouth.  Tell me if there are other attractions you would particularly like to visit and I can see whether it is feasible.  Bring sufficient money for your bus pass, entrance fee(s) and meals/refreshments. You will probably be catching ferries around 9:00am and 8:00pm unless you intend staying overnight. Please let Julie know in advance if you are coming.
