It is common to find blocking diodes installed in charging systems with no thought given to the fact that the diode 'drops' 0.7v between the charging source and the battery. In a 12V system this represents the difference between a fully charged battery and one that is nearly flat. Marine battery chargers are available with multiple outputs to charge more than one battery bank simultaneously. They cost more than the above solution- but they work!
