This is a fairly common example of how this important component is typically installed. As the boat has an 'open' back deck the pump wiring could be expected to receive rainwater and condensation from above, water and grease from the shaft below, and live it's life in an atmosphere of dampness and humidity. The terminals will corrode rapidly and the exposed cable will be attacked by diesel and heat becoming brittle and likely to crack. |
