This cable, on a dynamo, was installed not that long ago. The cable has a neoprene jacket, which is oil resistant, but the inner conductors are insulated with natural rubber- which has disintegrated with the effect of diesel and heat. Fortunately the bare wires have been prevented from shorting together by the 'fossilisation' effect of the brittle rubber remains holding it them in place.
