A weekend of English Country Dance to suit all tastes (#22 in the series),
with dances from the period c1650 to the present day including New England Contras and Squares.
The series is organised and led by
John & Hilary Turner. It is
aimed at enthusiasts
who enjoy their dancing and aspire to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding of
English Country Dance, but not at the expense of courtesy and cordiality.
The calling is
shared between John and our 'Guest' Caller,
and the music is provided by our 'Guest' Musicians .
The emphasis will be firmly on enjoyment.
The weekend commences with dinner on the evening of Friday 14th November 2008 and concludes
with a farewell dance on the afternoon of Sunday 16th November.
There will be a mixture of dances & workshops, and some free time to explore the local environs.
| RHODRI DAVIES has been calling for 20 years at events such as Chippenham, Sidmouth and Seattle Folk Life festivals as well as regular bookings at local dances and club events round the country. Whilst he has a special fondness for contras he has a wide repertoire; a mixed programme dance will find him calling Playford to Squares, his own compositions to traditional dances from the CDMs. |

GUEST MUSICIANS
| AIDAN BROADBRIDGE & LOUISA RIDGWAY For the past nine years, Aidan on fiddle has been accompanied by pianist Louisa Ridgway. Aidan and Louisa have impressed audiences from the dance floor to the concert hall. Their energetic performances for English, Scottish and Contra dancing create an atmosphere unlike any other duo. Aidan and Louisa's classical training shines through in their playing - as does their sense of humour! |

THE VENUE
THE RENDEZVOUS is a modern hotel approx 1 mile south of the bustling market town of Skipton, Nth Yorks. The accommodation is comfortable and stylish, with a spacious 3rd floor ballroom. The restaurant, which overlooks the Leeds & Liverpool canal, has a sound reputation for fine cuisine.
All accommodation is en-suite and is available in Double, or Twin (shared) rooms. There are no Single rooms in the hotel. There is a supplement for single occupancy. Try their Website: The Rendezvous
EVENT CHARGES
The charges include 'Full Board' from dinner on Friday Evening to lunch on Sunday including morning coffee / tea both days, and a cup of tea before departure on the Sunday Afternoon.
The cost of the weekend is £172.00 per person for shared accommodation, which includes the Course Fee. The single occupancy supplement is £15.00 per person per night.
A deposit of £73.00 per person is required when booking. A discount of £5.00 per person will be deducted from the balance, for bookings made before 1st May 2008.
BOOKING POLICY & PROCEDURE
Rooms will be allocated on a 'first come-first served' basis, whilst maintaining a reasonable gender balance.
A cheque for the full deposit is necessary to reserve your booking.
No reservations will be accepted by phone or email.
NB. Special arrangements apply to non-UK residents, please apply by email or phone in the first instance.
NB. All Single guests wishing to share a twin room must be prepared to pay the single supplement if we are unable to find a suitable room-mate or their room-mate is forced to cancel their reservation. Single guests, who wish to share a room with specified individuals only, must book for the event with the specified individual ON THE SAME BOOKING FORM.
If the event is already fully booked, we will automatically add your name to our
waiting list & return your cheque. You will be contacted by phone if an
appropriate vacancy occurs.
Once your booking has been confirmed the deposit may be non-returnable. If you
are forced to cancel, we will endeavour to re-fill the vacancy. If successful,
we will return your deposit minus a small administration fee. However we reserve
the right to charge the full amount if we incur cancellation charges. Cancellation
Insurance is available at an additional charge of approx. £13.00 per person, dependent on the number in your party, and is highly recommended. A form will be sent to you with your booking confirmation.
To book for this event please download a copy of our Booking Form, complete as appropriate and forward together with your cheque for the correct amount (£73.00 per person) to the address on the form. Please make your cheques payable to 'HM Turner'.
If you have any special dietary requirements or prefer decaffeinated coffee please include the information on the booking form so that the staff at the hotel can be notified.
NB. The balance of payment is due on Monday 22nd September 2008.
