Charitable Work

John Vigar is involved in several charitable organisations.

He is a Trustee of Friends of Friendless Churches (Charity number 209456). This society
cares for redundant churches in England and Wales that would otherwise have been demolished
or converted to an unsympathetic use. In England it cares for churches that do not meet the
criteria to be vested in The Churches Conservation Trust whilst in Wales it is the statutory
body funded by Church and State to preserve the most important redundant churches.

In addition John actively supports the work of many heritage bodies and is a member of the
Panel of Speakers for the following bodies:

  • · The National Trust
  • · The Civic Trust
  • · The National Churches Trust
  • · The Kent Federation of Local History Societies
  • · The Sussex History Federation
  • · NADFAS
