Tours
This is the most popular aspect of John Vigar`s work. With his countrywide experience and many contacts John is able to arrange exclusive tours that visit buildings that are not open to the public.
He is a firm believer in history as a `living` subject and prefers to show houses that are still used for their original purpose. He finds it frustrating to visit buildings that are open to the public and to be restricted by ropes and dim lighting in a building that has the pervading atmosphere of a museum. To this end he arranges a series of day and weekend tours throughout England to many historic properties both large and small where the owners personally show his guests around.
Because these houses are not in the public domain it is not possible to publicise these activities - but they include the homes of many famous people and show properties that form an integral part of English architectural and social history.
Security limitations require that all guests who take part in these activities are members of John’s Historical Appreciation Society founded in 1986 which is honoured to enjoy the patronage of the Marquess of Anglesey.
