Mary Ann is remembered my some family members who knew her as being very kind. She used to invite her grandchildren to her house on Sundays and hand out whatever goodies (cakes, fruit, sweets, chocolate) she could.

This photo may have been taken after the death of her husband, William, in April 1923. Unfortunately the date on the back is illegible, except for 30 April(?) being written on it. It is possible that she had a mourning dress made for his funeral and this was the deadline by which it had to be ready. The photo was loaned to me by Mary Ann Newman's granddaughter, Mary Robson (nee Robertson).
