LW Plants Catalogue

LW Plants is a back-garden nursery; plants from a plantsman's garden.  All the plants in my catalogue are propagated from the plants I grow in the garden.  A few plants may only be available in small quantities and some may not be available all year round.

Please note that mail order is for thyme only.  Although thyme can be despatched throughout the year, most perennials are too big to despatch in the summer and by the autumn many varieties are already sold out.

Please read Terms of Business.

For personal callers, the opening hours are 10.00am to 5.00pm most days, but please telephone first.  The nursery is only open when I am at home.

Making an order request
The catalogue is presented in a form in which you can add items to a 'shopping basket' and submit this request automatically via e-mail.  Alternatively you can obtain a printable version by clicking the Printable Catalogue button, using Adobe Reader to view the catalogue and then obtaining a print of it with your printer.  The order form is on the last sheet of the catalogue, which you can fill in and mail to us.

'Shopping basket' method
Important: The Shopping Basket method uses a 'cookie' to store the selections and quantities of the plants you select.  Your browser privacy setting must allow a cookie, which is used for this purpose only, to be saved on your computer.  If your browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6, set at privacy settings Medium or higher you should add to your trusted/permitted sites www.users.waitrose.com, which is where this site is hosted at present.  Less strict privacy settings will allow the cookie to be saved without having to do this.  (One benefit of having the saved cookie is that you have the ability to review the enquiry you made after it has been sent, by using the View Basket button)

To select plants for order enquiries enter a number in the box next to the price and click the checkbox next to it, you will then be prompted to confirm your selection, (try it with these above).
The catalogue is in four sections:  A-F, G-L, M-S and T-Z.  You can see what you have selected while in any one of these sections scrolling through, or click the View Basket button.

When you have made all your selections, click the View Basket button, confirm everything you have selected is in the Basket, fill in your name and address details and click the Send Request button. This request should then be sent automatically using your e-mail program.

This method works satisfactorily with Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 with Outlook Express 5 and 6.  Other browsers which are satisfactory include Netscape, Mozilla Firefox, Opera.  Warning: If you are with AOL or Compuserve or use e-mail programs other than Outlook Express, see paragraph below

On receipt of order request either via e-mail or conventional mail, I will send you an invoice for the plants which are available, including the amount for carriage and packing.  Please send a cheque for the appropriate amount and the plants will be despatched when the cheque has been cleared.  Cheques should be made payable to LW Plants.  I do not accept any credit or debit cards.

I am happy to arrange to take prepaid orders of plants to any of the Plant Sales or Flower Shows I attend during the summer.  Please enquire for details.

Overseas customers
There is no mail order outside the U.K.  I am happy to supply plants to overseas customers, especially thymes, but they must be collected from the nursery.  Customers outside the EU must be responsible for their own phytosanitary documentation.

Internet e-mail other than Outlook Express
Users of Internet Service Providers such as AOL and Compuserve etc. which use their own e-mail programs instead of Outlook Express may not be able to use this facility: please send a conventional e-mail message containing your order.  Similarly if you are in an organisation which uses other programs for e-mail such as Lotus Cc-Mail the ordering facility may not function.

As there is such a plethora of browsers and e-mail clients it may not be possible to cater for all vagaries of these.  Over the last four years we have received a small number of oddities in this form of e-mail order.  If you use Internet Explorer with Outlook Express, check your Sent Items in your e-mail program and see that a message subject Order from LW Plants Catalogue 2006 with an attachment POSTDATA.ATT is present, if so you will have reasonable confidence that the request has been sent.  If you use Mozilla or Netscape, the request will be in the e-mail message itself in coded form; this can be processed by us.
