SOUTHERN RAILWAY 3 CYLINDER 4-4-0 LOCOMOTIVE

The Schools class of 40 locomotives were built by the Southern Railway between 1930 and 1935. They were the most powerful 4-4-0 in the country. Three have survived into preservation.

A scale model with many features of the full size locomotive

Overall length including tender 2' 8".
Driving and coupled wheels 3½" diameter.
Bogie wheels 1⁵/₈" diameter.
Tender wheels 2¹/₈" diameter.
2 outside and 1 inside cylinders - slide valve. Bore ⁹/₁₆" diameter, Stroke 1¹/₈".
Inside and outside Walschaerts pattern valve gear.
