Other sources of castings
- Castings to build LBSC's "Tich" are readily available from such suppliers as Reeves(2000), GLR Distributors, Blackgates, Maidstone Eng. Supplies. Tich was designed by LBSC to "use up" readers' stocks of 2½-in. gauge parts when 2½-in. became less favoured after WW2. The hornblocks and axleboxes are required for many of LBSC's designs, and Reeves can still supply the hot pressed brass type that make life easier for the builder as they require less machining than the cast gunmetal type.
The cylinders are intended for 11/16" bore x 11/8" stroke.
- A large range of wheel castings is available from Alan Headech
- A small range of wheel castings was available from Kennion Bros. and these are now available from GLR Distributors.
The range covered the needs for six LBSC loco designs (Austere Ada, Dyak, Fayette, Olympiade, Purley Grange, Southern Maid).
- The wheel castings that used to be produced by Stuart Turner Ltd. of Henley-on-Thames are no longer obtainable.
- Similarly those originally sold by Bonds o' Euston Road are no longer available. Occasionally, castings do turn up when workshops are cleared. It is always worth asking Des Adeley if he has any in the "odds and sods" bin.
