The meeting began with a representation from Helen
Shearer of the Welham Green As One group regarding an event planned for
Members of the Committee had an on-site meeting to
discuss the events which would take place around the football field - excluding
the pitch area which would be roped off - but that would include use of the
tennis courts for stalls, the recreation ground for a bouncy castle, together
with the necessary permits, licences and insurance that would be needed for the
event to take place.
It was agreed that the celebrations could take place
subject to the necessary permits, licences and insurance being in place.

a) Purchase
of Land at Little Heath
Settlement of the Council’s final invoice had now been received together
with a letter promising to liaise with the Parish Council when works are due to
commence.
b) St Mary’s School Drainage
Easement
Councillors C Everard and Mrs J Boulton agreed to arrange a date when
the school re-starts in September, to prepare a drawing of the

It was noted that there was no lighting in the youth shelter. Kerry Clare at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council
was investigating the matter.

OTHER BUSINESS
i) North Mymms Bowls Club
Councillor Everard said that a meeting had been held with committee
members of the North Mymms Bowls Club on
It was agreed that when the Parish Council’s professional advisor
prepared his report, a copy would be given to the Bowls Club and they could
obtain professional advice from their own advisor, at their own expense, if
they so wished.
However, Councillors Mrs Boulton and C Everard had explained that the
Parish Council needed to be prudent with tax payers’ money but that it was the
aim of the Council to have the best possible
The members of the Amenities Committee were unanimous in their praise
for the Head Groundsman and his team for their work on the
ii) Metal Storage Box for
Football Nets
Two quotations had been received for 10’ x 8’ metal storage boxes to be
placed on the playing field behind the Burns Pavilion. It was agreed to proceed with the purchase of
the cheaper quote for approximately £990 but not until confirmation is received
of a contribution from the Community Chest promised by the Welham Green Ward
Councillors.
iii) Tractor Tyres
It was noted that two new tyres were required for the T registered
tractor at a cost of £670 each, excluding VAT.
Councillor Storey said he had checked the finance situation and the cost
would be met from the tractor fund.
