3. MATTERS ARISING
a) Purchase
of Land at Little Heath
Mr Dixon confirmed that they had already replaced the contractor and
were ready to proceed but there appeared to be a slight problem with the
crossover which Highways were dealing with.
b) St Mary’s School Drainage
Easement
Councillor Everard said he and Councillor Mrs Boulton would arrange a
date to survey the new nursery building following permission received from the
school to do this.
c) Youth Shelter
There had been no response from Kerry Clare from Welwyn Hatfield Borough
Council regarding lighting in the youth shelter.
d) North Mymms Bowls Club
The Clerk said she had met with some representatives from the North
Mymms Bowls Club who were querying the Council’s letter regarding use of the
Burns Pavilion and the proposed height of the hedge.
The club had altered their Application to Hire document request for use
of the Burns Pavilion from ‘
Councillor Everard said that he had already discussed the height of the
hedge with the groundsmen and it would be slightly less than 6’ high.
e) Metal Storage Box for
Football Nets
It was suggested that the Clerk contact Irene Dean regarding the
progress of the contribution from the Community Chest towards the metal storage
box.
Councillor Everard agreed to complete the Planning Application for
placement of the storage box for submission to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

Burns Pavilion
The Clerk reported that a quotation had been received from Connaught Gas
Force for replacing the boiler in the Burns Pavilion at a cost of £5580 but a
second estimate had not yet been received.
g) Combined Energy Rates
As there had been no further information from HAPTC regarding preferential
combined energy rates in conjunction with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council,
Councillor Mrs Boulton suggested it as an agenda item for the next meeting of
the Welwyn Hatfield Association of Local Councils planned for

Damage at Gobions Open Space
The Clerk reported that there had been substantial damage to trees at
Gobions Open Space following a period of unseasonal inclement weather,
resulting in damage to a garden fence of a resident in The Grove. An estimate of £380 for the repair had been
received but there was a query regarding whose insurance company should deal
with the claim.
Councillor Everard said that a resident in Pine Grove had suffered
damage to a fence and shed from a tree in Georges Wood and had been advised to
claim from his own insurance. The Clerk
