2.         MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

Minutes of a meeting of the Amenities and Building Development Committee held on Wednesday 8 July 2009 were adopted by the Council at a meeting on 29 July 2009.

3.         MATTERS ARISING

            a)  Way Leave, St Mary’s Nursery

It was agreed that the Clerk would contact the Head Teacher at St Mary’s School to check on the progress of this draft annual licence.

b)   Extended Office Accommodation

Councillor Everard said that he would progress this matter with the architect.

c)  Access Road to Gobions Open Space

It was agreed that the Clerk would contact one of the Gobions Trustees regarding the state of the access road and any proposed remedial works.

d)  Play Equipment

The Clerk said that she had been notified that a grant of £4,000 from the County Council’s Rural Councillor for Brookmans Park and Little Heath would be made available towards the play equipment at Little Heath.

4.         ANY OTHER BUSINESS

a)  Allotment Tenants Letter

A letter from a concerned allotment tenant regarding vandalism and security was discussed.

·        It was agreed to write to the owners of Barnbeth asking them to reinstate the fence between them and the allotments as a matter of urgency

·        It was agreed to recommend to council that repairs to the gate posts at a cost of £450 should be carried out

·        Although the council does have responsibility for the allotments, third party calls to the police are not acceptable and any vandalism must be reported to the police by the tenant.

b)  Bushwood Close/Merritt Walk

Councillor Storey agreed to try and progress this matter on behalf of the Parish Council.

c)  Gobions Recreation Ground

It was reported that the two of the rockers in the above recreation ground seemed to be unsafe and needed refurbishing.

d)  Best Kept Garden

It was agreed to try and introduce a Best Kept Garden competition in 2010 and a number of ideas were discussed.  Initially the clerk would ask HAPTC to cascade a request to other parish and town councils who may have some experience in this sort of thing that any hints or tips would be welcome.  Meanwhile Councillor Mrs Boulton would draft an article for publicising this initiative for next spring/summer.

e)  North Mymms Bowls Club

The Clerk reported that the NM Bowls Club would like a commercial dishwasher in the Burns Pavilion next year at a possible cost of £1,000 plus, partly funded by the Parish Council.  The Amenities and Building Development Committee referred this request to the Council’s budget meeting in November for consideration.

Meeting Closed at 8.40 pm
