Minutes of a meeting of the AMENITIES & BUILDING DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE held on Wednesday 2nd May 2007.

1.         APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Mrs T Travell.

2.         MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

 

Minutes of a meeting of the Amenities and Building Development Committee held on Wednesday 4th April 2007 were adopted by the full Council at its meeting on 25th April 2007.

           

3.         MATTERS ARISING

 

a) Purchase of Land at Little Heath

 

Confirmation from the District Valuer that his valuation had been extended for a further six months from 2nd April 2007 had been sent to Longmores Solicitors to forward to Welwyn Hatfield Council.

b)  Budgeted Items of expenditure

The Clerk reported that the groundsmen had that morning fitted the new gate to Little Heath recreation ground but that a problem had arisen regarding the metal tractor shed door which was hoped would be resolved early next week.

c)   Hearing Loop

 

The Clerk had contacted HAPTC for information regarding hearing loops and was presently waiting for an appointment to obtain a second quotation.

 

d)   Village of the Year

 

The Clerk confirmed that an entry form for the ITC category had been sent in by the Parish Council.

e)   Child UK

 

There had been no further contact from Child UK.

f)    Bushwood Close

 

The Clerk reported that she had been contacted by Jeremy Morton at Welwyn Hatfield Council who had promised to investigate the matter and report back to the Parish Council by the end of May.

g)   Tennis Courts

 

Councillor Everard said that he had asked the clerk at the last Council meeting to obtain estimates to fence off the third tennis court as the basket ball equipment was interfering with tennis play.

4.         ANY OTHER BUSINESS

 

            a)   St Mary’s School Drainage Easement

 

The Clerk was asked to write again to the school requesting a copy of their plans showing the drainage and service connections to Parish Council property.

 

b)   White Lines – Bluebridge Road & Hawkshead Road

 

Councillor Mrs Boulton again raised the question of white lines in the above two roads.

 

c)   Parking, Royal Veterinary College, Hawkshead Lane

 

It was suggested that the Parish Council should again write to the RVC regarding student parking in Hawkshead Lane to say that we were very disappointed with their Green Travel Plan and ask them what they were going to do about it and also write to Welwyn Hatfield Council asking them to monitor the parking situation as parishioners were unable to access their own drives without difficulty.

 

d)   Parish Council’s Pathway from Moffats Lane to Moffats Field

 

It was agreed that the Clerk would request the groundsmen to cut back the bush by the above entrance in Moffats Lane.

 

 

e)   Green Belt Visit

 

It was noted that a group of Koreans were visiting the area on Bank Holiday Monday to see the surrounding green belt and it was agreed to give them each a North Mymms Parish Council Calendar as a small memento of their visit.

 

f)    Allotments

 

At the last meeting of the Parish Council the Clerk was asked to write to all allotment holders advising that because of the huge water bill for the last year, the Council were considering raising the rent of a 25 sq metre (5 pole) plot to £10 per year to help meet the cost.

 

The Clerk said she had that day spoken to Welwyn Hatfield Council and Hatfield Town Council and their costs for a similar sized plot were as follows:

 

Hatfield Town 5 poles with water     £14 per annum          50% discount for

                                                                                                            Senior citizens

 

W.H.C.                        4 metres square        £24.72 per annum     No discount

                                    With water
