Minutes of a MEETING of the FINANCE COMMITTEE held in the Council Office, Annexe to No 1 Bungalow, Bushwood Close, Welham Green on Wednesday, 25 February 2009.

1.       APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor K Pieri.

 

2.       MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING

 

The Minutes of a Meeting of the Finance Committee held on Wednesday, 25 January 2009 were agreed as being a true record of the proceedings and signed by the Chairman.

 3.      ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT

 

A Schedule of Accounts for Payment totalling £15,681.09 inclusive of Imprest Expenditure of £259.83 was presented.   After careful consideration of each item it was agreed that the total amount be recommended to Council for approval and payment in full.                           

 

4.       STATEMENT OF BALANCES

 

Consideration was given to a Statement of Balances held with the National Westminster Bank plc as at 18 February 2009 and it was noted that income totalling £1,801.01 had been received.

 

5.       TRANSFER OF MONEY

 

Approval was given to the Clerks action in transferring £13,000 from the Council’s SIBA account to current account on 14 February 2009.

                                                                                         

6.       ANY OTHER BUSINESS

 

          a)  Internal Audit Plan

 

Approval was given to the Internal Auditors Plan and schedule of documents required for audit on Wednesday 25 March 2009.

 

 

b)  Increase in British Gas Maintenance Agreements

 

The Finance Committee approved the proposed increase in monthly direct debits for British Gas Homecare agreements as follows:

 

Bungalow 1 from £17.00 to £18.40 including VAT from March

Bungalow 2 from £17.00 to £18.15 including VAT from March

 

c)  Bank Risk Assessment

 

It was agreed to recommend to Council that a Bank Risk Assessment be carried out to allow for action in a perceived emergency.  This would probably mean opening another account with a reputable bank. The Clerk would investigate the matter and report to the Council in due course.

 

7.       DATE OF NEXT MEETING

 

A meeting has already been arranged for Wednesday, 25 March 2009 commencing at 7.15 pm. in the Council Office, Annexe to No 1 Bungalow, Bushwood Close, Welham Green.

 

 

The meeting closed at 7.48 pm.
