Minutes of a meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held on Wednesday 12 November 2008

1.         APOLOGIES

           

            There were no apologies for absence.

2.         MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING

 

            Minutes of Planning Committee meetings held on 24 September and 15 October 2008 were adopted by the Council at its last meeting on 29 October 2008.  A Planning Committee meeting scheduled for 29 October was cancelled as there were no planning matters to consider.

3.         MATTERS ARISING

 

            i)  The Gardens/Oaklands Avenue

 

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council has checked the rumoured commercial activity at the above address and has found no evidence to substantiate the allegations.

 

ii)  Planning Training

 

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are still to advise a date for planning training.

iii) HAPTC Planning Statutory Instrument

 

It was noted that the HAPTC had recently made available a circular regarding the new Planning Statutory Instrument implemented on 1st October 2008.

 

4.         APPEALS

 

i)  Tanum Farm – appeal upheld by the Planning Inspectorate

 

ii)  Green Close  -  Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council had authorised enforcement action for the removal of the hoardings but since an appeal has been lodged, this enforcement action has been suspended. 

 

It was agreed to write to the Planning Inspectorate requesting a copy of the appeal and to contact Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to ask if anything can be done about the hoarding in the meantime as it is potentially a traffic hazard by affecting the sight line.

 

iii)  63A Peplins Way – an appeal has been lodged and it was agreed to write and request a copy of the Inspectorates report.

i)  Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council Planning Committee Meeting

 

11/15 Kerdistone Close is on the agenda for the forthcoming Borough Planning Control meeting.  The Parish Council did not comment on this application & the Planning Officers are recommending approval.

 

ii)  8 Great North Road

 

Enforcement Action for removal of the pillars at the above address has been approved by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.

 

iii)  Planning Dates 2009/2010

 

Planning Dates for 2009/2010 have been drafted and will be circulated to all Councillors for approval.

            A meeting has already been arranged for Wednesday 26 November 2008, following a full council meeting.
