Minutes of the Planning Committee held on Wednesday 25th May 2011 at 8.15 p.m. in the Council Offices, 1a Brushwood Close, Welham Green

The meeting commenced at 9.20 p.m.

12.  Apologies for absence

There were no apologies for absence.  Councillor Hastings had given his apologies.

13.  Declarations of interest

Councillors Horrocks and Everard declared a personal interest as members of the North Mymms District Green Belt Society in agenda item 6, planning application ref 2011/0833 at 1 The Cottages, Shepherds Way is in the Green Belt.

14.  Minutes

The minutes of the meeting held on 18th May 2011 were approved as a true record and were signed by the Chairman.

15.  Planning decisions

There were no decisions to report.

16.  Planning appeals

Ref 2010/0960 – Two caravans, Foxes Lane change of use to gypsy site.  Councillor Horrocks attended the Informal Hearing today.

Ref 2010/1286 – 6-8 Dellsome Lane, alter and extend existing dwellings to form three x two bed dwellings and one x one bed dwelling, convert bakery into two bed dwelling and erect one bedroom bungalow in back garden, appeal was dismissed.

Ref 2010/2997 – 18 Bell Lane, extension, appeal was dismissed.

17.  Planning applications

Members considered the following planning applications and RESOLVED to either not comment or to submit comments or objections to the Planning Authority as follows:

i)                    Ref 2011/0857 at 38 Mymms Drive – demolish garage and conservatory, erect single storey rear extension and two storey side extension. 

No comment.


ii)                  Ref 2011/0833 at 1 The Cottages, Shepherds Way – part one and part two storey side extension. 

North Mymms Parish Council comments that this site is in the Green Belt so proposed extension should comply with Green Belt policies.

18.  Committee Terms of Reference

It was agreed that in Clause 5 of the Terms of Reference the words “East of England Regional Assembly” should be replaced by “Government”, otherwise the existing Planning Committee Terms of Reference was approved.

19.  Date of next meeting

The next meeting of the Planning Committee will be on Wednesday 15th June 2011 after the Amenities Committee meeting.
