The War to End all Wars is a commemorative presentation of songs, music, poetry, readings and slides about the 1st World War. It contains a mixture of both contemporary and period material with contributions from local research and songs for audience participation.

Readings include extracts from the diary of Edith Appleton, a nurse from Crediton who served at the front, and the names of those from the individual Parish where the concert is performed who died in the Great War. Songs range from serious to light hearted with words provided for choruses. Money raised is donated to the International Red Cross.

Some comments from audience members include, ‘Some moments were heart breakingly poignant’, ‘Really well put together with imaginative and sensitive use of slides’ and ‘Loved joining in the songs’.

The performance is taking place at various venues in Devon throughout this year and is available for further bookings at folk clubs, village halls and festivals. Contact Nicola King for more information on 01363 877748 or email
