Gift Aid

If you have a function coming up in the Lowestoft area which you think would be of interest to our listeners please let us know so that we can put it on the Informer tape.

Our much-loved annual Mirth and Melody show was staged on Saturday October 16th October 2010 at 7.30 p.m. at the Oulton Community Centre, Oulton Broad, when a good time was had by all, and much needed funds raised for our service to our listeners.

Our Annual General Meeting had to be postponed to January 2011 due to the bad weather.

Our next big event is the annual Talking Newspaper Quiz on Monday March 21st 2011, 7.00 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. start, hotly contested between Grapevine, Three Rivers and Sound East. So come on all you Sound-Easters, we really need to put that trophy where it belongs - in our Studio. This year the match is at Bungay Golf Club, and teams of four are needed at £8.50 per head - money, and names, in a sealed envelope to the studio. Don't worry if you don't have four people - we can soon put people together. Our usual quizmaster Bill Davies has some cracking questions for you.

The really big news for 2006 was that we finally had premises of our own. Volunteers are enjoying the extra space and comfort.

The Eastern Region Talking Newspaper Conference held on April 16th 2005 was a great success, with over 100 delegates taking part from all over East Anglia. Below is a photograph of the six guide dogs for the blind, who accompanied their owners, enjoying the sunshine at lunchtime.

Our coffee morning held on 31st May 2008 raised the magnificent sum of £320 and was greatly enjoyed by all. Thanks to all who helped in any way. Our tombola stall attracted plenty of attention as you can see below, and outside our Chairman Rodney demonstrated our new digital equipment to an interested listener.

It is especially important this year to raise as much money as possible as we have now updated our equipment to go "digital" - we went "live" on the 6th June 2008, bringing us firmly up to date for the 21st century.
