S.O.U.P. is a community ukulele group based in Enfield in north London. We now meet every other Tuesday from 8 to 10 p.m. at
St Andrew’s Parish Centre
36 Silver Street
Enfield EN1 3EG

Meeting dates for 2017 are 10 & 24 January; 7 & 21 February; 7 & 21 March; 4 & 18 April; 2, 16 & 30 May; 13 & 27 June; 11 & 25 July; 8 & 22 August; 5 & 19 September; 3, 17 & 31 October; 14 & 28 November; 12 December.

Our repertoire ranges from Gus Kahn to the Kinks and beyond – click here for a list of the contents of our songbook. Members also contribute other songs for group performance at our meetings, or do solo turns if they wish.

Beginners are welcome: just turn up with your uke and chip in £3 towards the hire of the room. We don’t offer formal tuition – though some of our members do, privately – but between us we have a wide range of ukulele knowledge which we’re happy to share, and you can join in as much as you feel comfortable with.

S.O.U.P. plays gigs throughout north London, mainly in support of local community events. Newcomers are welcome to take part in these, but it’s best to come along to meetings for a while first and familiarise yourself with our most popular songs before performing in public. And we do need you to be confident with the more common chords and to be able to maintain a good rhythm.

You can see and hear S.O.U.P. in action on Facebook here.
