Somerset and
Dorset Railway: Midford Station & Viaduct
Midford Station was a popular location for
photographers. Although the station itself was unstaffed latterly, the Midford signalmen Percy Savage and Harry
Wiltshire were well known figures on the Somerset and Dorset and were described by Ivo Peters as, 'Gentlemen in
the true sense of the term'.
Percy gave 46 years of service to the railways, only to see the line that he had spent many years on rudely shattered.
