Shillingstone Station, Somerset & Dorset, S&D, July 2008

Shillingstone Station on the southern half of the Somerset and Dorset seen on 20th July 2008, the occasion of the first 'open day' after the completion of the station building restoration.

Note the miniature steam traction engines along with Merlin the greyhound on the 'down' platform, to the right. Detailed plans for further development were on show; these include the recreation of the former passing loop through the station.

The outline of 9F 92207 'Morning Star' remained in the background.

A closer look at the 'up' platform and restored canopy. Contrast this with how the station looked before the Trust moved in, and during the first clean-up day in 2001.
