Revolution Within - A Manifesto Towards Freedom

By Sammy Kunina.

Whilst some of us are still struggling to persuade state parties, such as our LEAs, to comply with the law and treat children with the respect to which they are entitled, Sammy Kunina explores the possibilities of extending children's rights into the realm of total freedom.

Her manifesto includes explanations of "childism" (a form of social control and oppression of children), autonomy, and what it is to be libertarian. Her account takes the form of a personal outpouring and a recollection of her personal journey towards libertarianism. She describes in detail the child prejudice that exists in our society, the subtle and covert coercion to which many of us have fallen victim in childhood and as parents endeavouring to raise our children in a kinder way. Sammy stresses the importance of healing ourselves first, so that we might be able to resist the unconscious urge to transmit the cruelty to a new generation. She emphasises the link between feminism and childism and the need for fathers and mothers to renounce the inequalities in power that exist amongst adults in order to be free to raise children the libertarian way.

The ideas presented in this book are radical and challenging. In publishing her thoughts, Sammy will no doubt have provided a voice for those who envisage a society conducting itself in a manner well beyond the fringes of the vision enshrined within the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
