NOTICE FROM ACTION ON RIGHTS FOR CHILDREN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FAMILIES OUTRAGED BY NAHT ATTACK
Action on Rights for Children, which represents families throughout the UK, has
condemned the speech by David Hart, General Secretary of the National
Association of Head Teachers as 'an outrage'.
Ian Dowty, lawyer for ARCH, says: "David Hart appears determined to create
head-on confrontation with families. He offers a simplistic analysis of a
complex social problem and appears to have no understanding of the real issues.
"We are still trying to make a Victorian education system work in the 21st
Century by bullying parents and children into submission. Until schools and
Government alike recognise just how alienated ordinary families feel, and turn
their attention to democratic models of education, there can be no progress.
"The overwhelming majority of parents and children care deeply about education.
David Hart's attempt to blame the failings of an outdated and inherently
bullying system on families only indicates just how entrenched the problems
are."
