Broadwater
got off to a slow start, scoring just 75 runs off the first 20 overs and by
then, they were only 3 wickets down. In the next 20 overs, they only managed
to add another 78 runs but they lost 7 wickets, with Shane Maggs dismissing
the batsman to the pavillion. In the last 10 overs of the game, the required
run rate for Broadwater was just over 12 an over, but with the way that
wickets were falling, Broadwater struggled to score at an impressive rate due
to the tight bowling and the excellent fielding, which is amongst one of the
best of the season. With only 5 overs to go, the required run rate for
Broadwater had crept up to just over 16 an over and Broadwater were not
looking in a good position to win the Sunday Cup, which was won by
Billingshurst and is among the first pieces of silverware that they have win,
but hopefully not the last.
