1st XI Home Brighton Insurance
|
Away in a dell, last year Insurance
scored 218-3, with Brian Joyce stunning with a catch in the outfield.
Nicholas Wood scored 90 and Jamie Wood 72, and, in a slump matched
by the shoulders of the Brighton supporters,as they trudged home
round the ground after another defeat, six wickets quickly fell.
But enter John Lehan to hit the winning runs; a moment captured,
for posterity, by Eddie of the Argus. Another picture of John
taken this year at Parham Park: |

2nd XI Away Angmering Manor 2
Formerly The Lamb, Angmering
Manor play at Angmering School, and the pitch was not really fit
for cricket. Nice bunch of blokes but with a better class of opposition,
a helmet would be essential.
An early start, due to a football match, meant changing in a school
hall.
Angmering Manor got 177-7. Sam Venn 3-25 off 9 overs, Andy Broughton
1-36 off ten, Ian Lusted, weaving magic, got 2-34 off his ten,
and Tim Bryder, sometimes unplayable, got 1-26. Nick Moss bowled
7 overs for 13 runs. Angmering's opener retired hurt after facing
a ball from Ian.
We got 144 in reply, with 49 from man of the match Brian Joyce,
and a magical moment from Richard Fish as a four sped to the boundary.
Angmering's Went was unplayable with 6-19, some went shooting
in the air, and some went right along the ground.
