Result - Match
abandoned due to rain.
Billingshurst's
scoring was slow on a rain affected pitch with no significant partnerships
that really set the scoring rate alight, however, the only batsman who
contributed to such a low scare was Mike Burroughs with an impressive 76,
with other batsman chipping with runs to see us through to a fair score of
187.
After tea, Ifield set about knocking the runs off, scoring about 5 an over.
At 25 overs into the game, the heavens opened and the rain poured down with
everyone running for cover. At this stage of the game, Ifield were sitting
on a score of 111 - 2, with the great team work of Jason Rigby and Chris
Polson having taking the only two wickets to fall in Ifield's innings.

This was an important match for Billingshurst to win as it would keep us in
touch with Ifield who were leading the league up until the end of the game.
Billingshurst had a slow and steady start to their innings which was then
boosted once Shane Maggs came to the wicket and along with Mike Burroughs,
the pair managed to put on an impressive 153 runs for the 3rd wicket,
putting us well on course for the massive total of 260 from 46.3 overs in
182 minutes. Mike was run out on 97, going for a third run, after hitting
the ball towards the boundary, but the strong arm of Mark Rasmussen was to
be his downfall. Billingshurst's order then collapsed as we lost the last 5
wickets for just 38 runs.
The highlight of the day must be the huge 6 Mike hit over mid wicket, just
missing his parent who were sitting on the boundary. Shane Maggs batted the
best he has done so far this season and his innings was worth the watch. Yet
again Will Gooda played an important innings, seeing off the opening bowlers
from Arundel, including Mark Rasmussen. The overall mood of the game was
not dampened one bit by the presence of Mark Rasmussen who ended up
claiming 5 wickets for Arundel. Billingshurst are back on top of the league
with a slender 3 point lead over Ifield, who are our next opponents on the
