WHOLENESS AND RECONCILIATION |
|
Fifth Sunday of the month Our Service of Wholeness and Reconciliation is first and foremost a celebration of the wholeness, which is already ours in Christ. This is the context in which we bring our concerns, problems, brokenness, and so on to God. It is therefore essential to accept ourselves as we are, for without that self 'owning' we cannot move on to new transformation. After all, in the Eucharist, the central celebration of wholeness and reconciliation, light and dark, the new and the old, the broken and the transformed, all belong together. It is in this rich weaving of diverse elements that we both are whole and become whole. So our Service is not about waving magic wands over people, or raising unrealistic expectations, or expecting false 'miracles' that only want sweetness and light, or telling God what to do. No, it is much more grounded than that and concerned with what we may call the sacrament or gift of the present moment. In the Service there will be an opportunity to receive the laying on of hands and prayers, for those who would like it for personal reasons. Martin Roberts |
