In a deep cleft in the cliffs above North Fearns (Harrison, 1937c). The only vice-county record but it is known growing over rocks in western Scotland (Preston et al., 2002) and recent records exist from adjacent vice-counties. Not seen since.

In the ditches along the Fearns road (Harrison, 1937a). Still there KC 1979. Not seen outside Raasay House garden since. Perhaps this recorded as Mimulus agg. BSBI 1969 for NG53.

Woods around Raasay House (Harrison, 1937a) – perhaps lost under forestry planting. Woodland below Hallaig cliffs (Harrison & Morton, 1951) – still present not far from there. Cliffs on western side of Loch Eadar da Bhaile CWM & KC 1979 – still there 2006. Near Eaglais Breige AC2 1988. Several sites along east coast of Raasay SJB 1994. Eilean Tigh SJB 1996. Near Umachan SJB 2001.  In woodland or under bracken and on rocks. Also known from Eigg and Rum. First recorded from Skye in 2015.

Abundant on moors. All examples examined critically are subsp. caerulea.

Widespread in wet places.  Recent examination of a number of specimens places them all in subsp. fontana. This form was also recorded, as var. lamprosperma, from the west of Raasay (Harrison, 1936a). However, subsp. chondrosperma is quite possible in drier habitats and has been reported once from woods near Raasay House (Harrison & Morton, 1951) – possibly in an area lost under forestry planting.

“Rare in woods along the Arish Burn” (Harrison, 1937a) – perhaps in an area lost to forestry planting. Loch Eadar da Bhaile NCCLS 1989.  Not seen by SJB. Present occasionally on Skye and quite likely to be on Raasay or Rona.  Large-flowered forms of M. secunda may be a source of confusion.
