About
the Choir
The Thames Philharmonic Choir was founded
in 1964, and the regularly auditioned membership includes
singers of all ages. It aims for exciting programming and
high standards, and performs with orchestras and soloists
of the best quality.
The
choir's repertoire includes Renaissance music, choral-orchestral
classics of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, new works,
cathedral music and other styles. The choir sings at
full strength of about 100 voices in large-scale concerts,
and in smaller groups for other events.
Venues
include central London halls, including the South
Bank, Southwark
Cathedral and Cadogan
Hall, and local churches in Richmond, Wandsworth and Kingston.
Members of the choir also attend summer residencies in English
Cathedrals. Recent cathedrals visited include Bristol, Bath
Abbey, Gloucester, Hereford, Ripon, Southwell Minster, Worcester,
Ely, Gloucester and Lincoln.
Richmond
is twinned with the South German town of Konstanz and the
choir regularly performs with the Symphonic Choir of Konstanz, both in Germany and in London
