This is me......

I was born in Wymondham, near Norwich and my forbears came from the Yarmouth/Lowestoft area. Indeed the very name Larke (Lark) appears to originate from the north east coastal area of Norfolk/Suffolk. My wife is also a Norfolk girl from a farming family. I am a member of the Friends of the Norfolk Dialect.

For over 20 years I have been entertaining groups large and small, mainly in the Peterborough area which is where I live, telling stories written in the Norfolk dialect. My collection has been amassed over many years and I am still searching out new additions to it on frequent trips to Norfolk to visit family and friends.

Increasingly popular are stories featuring my own brand of Norfolk humour. Many of these are about the joy of singing and in particular, singing in a male voice choir. Two CDs are now available which reflect the fun I have with 'my'choir. Please go to 'Hear me' for more information.

When I was a boy the advent of television prompted many Norfolk people to predict the death of the dialect.

Similar predictions are still being made but it survives and not just the dialect but the unique character of Norfolk people as well.
