Flash Tetravex How to Play Tetravex To start a new game, select a board size from 2x2 to 5x5. 2x2 is very easy and is recommended for absolute beginners. You start with a number of pieces on the right board. These pieces must be moved to the left board and reassembled so that the numbers on the edges match. When you've finished a game, you may be asked to type in your initials for inclusion into the high score table. Both the high score table and the input box can be repositioned elsewhere by dragging their tops. If you get hopelessly stuck you can solve the game by selecting Solve It! Strategies If a piece has a number on one of its edges that cannot be matched with another piece then it must be placed along one of the edges of the board so that the unique number is against the board edge e.g. a piece has a 3 on its left side but there's no piece with a matching 3 on its right side which means this piece should be placed along the left edge of the board. Identifying any such pieces from the outset will give you a foundation to build upon. Additional Notes The Instructions button doesn't work as I never implemented in-game instructions. On my Linux box, the font in dynamic text fields (timer, high scores) renders differently to that on a Windows computer. It's a font issue which other people may experience. When I first developed this game back in 2003 it was a simple thing to save the high scores to a cookie. Now with the latest Flash 9, a security warning appears which redirects the user to Adobe's website so that they can reconfigure their security settings. I'm not interested in putting users through this experience so I've disabled high score saving. © Thunor 2007, licenced under the GNU GPL.
