I've bought many computer magazines in my time, and like many people I've dumped huge quantities of them at one or more defining points in my life, but I retained a selection that were important to me and I would like to share with you the ones that time and the Internet have forgotten.
Note that all of these magazines I have scanned myself and are either hosted on vintage magazine preservation websites or on file hosting websites. Hovering over the thumbnails will give you an indication of what to expect when clicking on them.
The magazines were scanned on an HP Scanjet 4500c (on WinXP as there's no Linux driver) and then converted to jpg 85% quality using ImageMagick and a shell script on Linux. Possibly the most important thing I did was to open the scanner and clean the glass using a screen cleaning spray (something I recommend other potential magazine scanners attempt if possible) as a mist had been slowly developing since I bought it that really impacted the quality.
