About Tyldesley Little Theatre

Who are we?

Tyldesley Little Theatre (TLT) first came to life in 1921 and today is still serving the local community with high quality drama in live theatre. Now in our 91st Season, we are one of the older amateur dramatic societies in the country and can trace many of our stage productions right back to those early days (see our 'History' page).

What do we do?

We are an amateur society (members of the Greater Manchester Drama Federation - GMDF), run totally by volunteers but offering entertainment to professional standards, bringing live theatre to you at a reasonable price. We usually perform four plays a year along with our traditional family pantomime. Our plays are varied, offering a wide range of entertainment from comedy and thrillers through to farce.

The Theatre

The auditorium is a small, intimate space, seating about 150 people on two levels. The Stalls are on the ground-floor of the building, with a small Balcony on the first-floor (some seats in the latter area have restricted sight-lines). We have refreshment rooms on both the ground-floor and in the basement, where tea, coffee and biscuits are available during the interval. Tickets can be purchased or collected from the Box Office prior to performances.

Disabled Access and Facilities

The Stalls and ground-floor public areas are fully accessible by wheel-chair. We have an area of the Stalls which, on-request, can accommodate wheel-chairs. If you require this facility, please mention when booking tickets. Our Front-of-House staff will be pleased to offer any assistance you may need.

We have a unisex toilet on the ground-floor with full disabled access and facilities. On the balcony level, we have an ambulatory toilet in the Men's Toilet. Both toilets are to the latest government and local authority standards.

The auditorium is fitted with an audio induction loop for those with hearing difficulties.

Booking Tickets

Simply ring our ticket line and ask for the tickets for the production that you want to see. We can offer concessionary prices for senior citizens and children at many performances.

Season Ticket

This is a popular way of seeing more for less, by subscribing in advance for tickets for all of a season's productions, you will receive your tickets at a reduced charge. We regret that our Season Ticket does not include tickets to our pantomime.

Payment

We accept payment by either cheque (please write your bank card number on the back) or cash. We regret that in order to keep overheads down, we do not accept credit or debit cards.

Performance Times

Our evening productions start at 7.30pm, with matinees during our pantomime. The times of matinees are published with particular performance details.

Membership

We meet regularly, normally on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, from 7:30 to 10:00, for rehearsals, with a break during the summer for holidays.

We are always pleased to welcome new members to the company, in an acting, backstage or social sphere. It doesn't matter whether you want to act on stage or simply brew up, you are very welcome. We need members to help out in all the jobs that occur in theatre. These include, directing, acting, backstage crew, set construction, sound and lighting, greeting patrons, making refreshments, and, regrettably, washing up!!

We hold auditions for all our productions, usually 3 months before each production. See our 'News Room' page for details as they become available.

Come along on our rehearsal nights for a look around, but, as mentioned above, during the summer, because of holidays etc., please telephone us first.

Sponsorship

TLT is a totally self-sufficient registered charity, relying primarily on ticket sales, donations, and sponsorship from local businesses in the Lancashire, Cheshire and North West area to survive. If you are a business who would like to help keep local live theatre alive, please contact us for details of our sponsorship packages.

Lime Street is the 'continuation' of Lemon street, on the opposite side of Elliott Street. Lime Street is one-way from Shuttle Street toward Elliot Street.
