The Tyler Victorian Photograph Album - Carte-de-visite
From The Collections of Roger Vaughan
Title Page: The Photographic Album
This leather bound album is nearly complete with all its photos and provides a snapshot of the 1860s and 1870s. There is no owner stated but lots of clues: A handwritten note stuck in says it was for "my Grand-daughter Freda Tyler " and that contained Freda's great Grand-father and mother. This was written in August 1921 and as the note is a letter - there is an address : Stafford Street, Eccleshall, Stafford. [UK]. Under this note is an earlier one giving it to a god-daughter Rosalind from Aunt Betsy, May 1921.
The photos are presented in the order preserved in the album.
Photos shown at about twice the natural size
Use of brackets: (transcribed notes) [my notes]
Front and the back views are available.
All addresses are in the UK unless stated.
Some may be later reprints pasted onto later cardstock (1863 photo on 1869 card back etc.)
